MOLDI

I have looked at this in the past and thought about downloading a book to listen to while I'm use my exercise bike. I still like reading the old fashion way. I find it hard to listen and drive or do other things. The site is strait forward and easy to use. My one question is what happens to the book at the end of the loan period. You are suppose to delete or destroy the book. Can you still listen to it or is it blocked until you renew or download. Nowhere on the site dose it say what happens. For those of us who can't listen to a whole book in 28 days that's important.

Podcast

These are a neat idea. For all those addicted to a certain subject or have time on their hands podcast are excellent. This is to promote yourself. The ones that I listen to on quilting were individual talking about their experiences and not so much on their processes. I do think this would be great for the genealogy page. I know that there are genealogist out there that do regular pod castings. The library could do this on a local sources or interview leading authorities on how to do use different sources.

YouTube

Youtube is a lot different than what I thought it would be. I thought it was all stupid stunts and porn. But there is actually videos out there that people can use. I looked at my favorite subject quilting and applique and found a few how to videos. Most of the videos out there were ads which is a little disappointing. It would be nice to see a quick demo of their technique. But they have to tease to get you to buy the book or DVD. I was not impressed with the quality of the videos. Most, even those produced by professionals is poor quality. There are one or two videos that lead me to a couple of new websites.
Here's part one of Button Flower Quilt video.

CML Tool Box

The power tool page is great for those who are Web 2.0 savvy. The page is also good place to show a customer the advantages to Gmail. Most of what was on the web page I have all ready tried. I may eventually download the CML tool bar to my home computer, If I remember to. One can only play so many game of spider solitaire and surf the net for long lost relatives.

Learn & play wiki

I found the instruction on this section a little sparse. I have been able to get through most of the instruction without having to ask for help. It was not obvious where need to go to post my blog.

discovering web 2.0

Man there are a lot of web 2.0 stuff out there. In looking web 2.0 awards list I checked out the genealogy sections, because everybody knows my second addiction is genealogy. Two(MyHeritage and GENI) of the sites listed I had heard about before. These sites are a great way to connect to faraway family members. It's almost like a family blog with all the genealogy information and pictures in one place. A good way to keep in touch or to find new family members.

Test for Google docs

Test for Google docs

Google docs looks good.  I think it would be great for the public.  No more losing your document when your session is up. Just save it to Google docs and start where you left of on your next session.  For work what a great way to work on a document and not have to a flash drive around.  There are times where I had to take a presentation home and work on it.  It means that I have to save and only use my old non vista computer.  Now no more transporting strange devices, just log on to the Internet.
